A winch rope under tension demands respect, and in the event of a failure, a few simple precautions can make all the difference. The ARB winch sail is placed on the winch line before a load is applied. It acts as a visual warning that the winch rope is under tension, and in the event of a rope failure can assist in absorbing the stored energy in the rope, helping to reduce rope recoil.
