1 x Pair Rear Shock Mounts Chall 2 Position Pin/Pin Extra Heavy Duty. Fits :- Rear Defender 90,110,130 / Discovery 1 / RRC. A Fuel filter remount kit will be required for Defender 90,110,130 Td5 and Puma. Part No :- GLXHD2POSMOUNT Manufacturer :- Gwyn Lewis 4×4 These Rear Shock Mounts are Extra Heavy Duty challenge suspension 2 Position top shock mounts, they are much stronger than the other mounts we do because shock valving is getting firmer and causing other shock mounts to crack and flex, these have an 8mm backing plate and a long gusset to add to the strength, they are more designed to fit on a DEFENDER that require a firmer road handling by using the more upright shock position and allows more room for the fuel pipes on the TD5 and especially Puma engines, but still has the same position as our challenge single position shock mount if required. We do a 3 position Extra Heavy Duty mount as well, but on a DEFENDER you cant use the 3rd position unless you cut part of the body strengthener away, this is why i have made a 2 position mount moving the mounting position as close to the body mount as possible to allow better damping on heavier Defenders. These shock mount still uses our 11 inch travel (challenge) PIN/PIN fixing shock absorber and allows you to mount the shock absorber in 2 different positions, 1st hole is a stiffer ride (more upright) for road handling and 2nd hole for more articulation the same as our challenge rear shock mount, the stiffer ride is when the shock ismounted more upright, if you do adjust the shock position regularly, i recommend that you drill a hole above the nut and put a split pin or R clip in it to stop the nut coming off if it does become loose. These mounts are designed for our 11 inch travel + 5.5 inch (challenge) Pin/Pin fixing shocks, they provide long travel suspension and ride quality for off road applications, the shocks required are a + 5.5 inch, 11 inch travel,by using the Pin on the top mount there is more movement in all directions, the trouble with the standard Eye top mount is it can move front to back, but sideways movement is restricted and causes the Eye to brake off when longer shocks are fitted, the rear shock mounts are moved forward and upwards to allow room for the longer shock length, this allows the spring to compress on full upward travel, upward travel is more important than drop out as you want your wheel to move upwards to get over obstacles, but this mount also gives a lot of downward movement as well, keeping your wheels on the ground at all times helps on traction and takes the pressure off the drive train. On newer rear axles you will have 4 shock bush cup washers on the axle shock mount, you must remove these 4 cup washers as they will restrict the shock movement and can cause the shock lower pin to brake off, they are held on with 4 spot welds and must be removed, when we supply shocks we supply new cup washers to replace them, this is very important. These mounts are galvanised and come with the fixing bolts to fit them.
